Discover: walking hockey!
Are you 50 and do you want to be active and sporty again?
Join our recreational group of enthusiastic hockey players who enjoy a game of Walking Hockey every Monday evening at MHC de Reigers! We'll meet on field 3 at 8:00 PM, and the game starts at 8:30 PM. We'll play two halves of about 20 to 25 minutes, with a short drinks break in between.
Did you know that we were the first hockey club in the Netherlands to start walking hockey, even before the coronavirus pandemic? Yet, many people mistakenly think that walking hockey is "boring." Nothing could be further from the truth! Our players, who were initially hesitant, are now incredibly enthusiastic. Walking hockey is not only fun and challenging, but also a great way to stay fit, regardless of your age or experience.
What exactly is Walking Hockey?
The rules are very similar to those of indoor hockey, but with one important difference: you're not allowed to run. This makes Walking Hockey accessible to everyone!
Come along, play along, and be amazed by the sport that not only improves your fitness but also boosts your social life. We'd love to see you on the field!
Our club offers a sporting challenge for everyone from 50 to well into their 80s, in addition to our extensive range of activities for young and old.
Curious? Feel free to come watch or join in! All you need is a suitable pair of field shoes – we have hockey sticks available for loan at the club.

Recreational or walking hockey?
Recreational players play a form of regular hockey, but the pace can sometimes be high and can be perceived as intense or challenging. For some, it can be too fast-paced or even a bit risky.
That's why Walking Hockey is an excellent alternative! It offers a safe, fun, and less intensive way to still be active in hockey. We also regularly see recreational players joining Walking Hockey to gradually get back to their previous level after an injury or surgery.
Want to learn more or get involved? Feel free to contact us or come by and experience Walking Hockey for yourself!
Winter? No problem!
In winter we play in the air dome, so you can also enjoy Walking Hockey every week in the colder months.
